Are the major umbrella organisations across Scotland's arts, heritage and creative industries and they contribute financially towards the running costs of the Culture Counts project. There are usually two to three meetings of the core members group annually.

Please note that creative trade unions and sector support organisations such as the Federation of Scottish Theatre are members of Culture Counts. Individuals and smaller organisations can feed into our work through their relevant support organisations and unions.

Our steering group consists of between nine and twelve Core Members who support the team to develop our strategy. They contribute to open letters to ministers, action plans, and collective policy submissions. There are usually between eight to ten meetings annually.

The EDI co-learning working group is funded by Paul Hamlyn Foundation to examine how to improve EDI in our organisations. The work began in 2022 and was refreshed and relaunched in 2025, in partnership with the Equal Media and Culture Centre Scotland. This new phase began by commissioning six diverse artists to respond to the brief “dreaming of a fairer future for culture”, which you can read more about here.
