There are a number of consultations currently open from Scottish Government, Scottish Parliament and Historic Environment Scotland.

Consultation for Scotland's new historic environment strategy

Historic Environment Scotland are consulting on a new strategy for Scotland's historic environment.

This consultation draft is the product of months of engagement with people and organisations across Scotland. HES are seeking input on testing and improving on it.

Proposed Wellbeing and Sustainable Development (Scotland) Bill

This is a proposal for a Member’s Bill from Sarah Boyack, Lothian.

The bill proposes to ensure policy development and implementation by public bodies is in line with principles of sustainable development and wellbeing by introducing a duty for public bodies to promote these principles and establishing a Commissioner for sustainable development and wellbeing.

Culture in Communities call for views

The Scottish Government’s Culture Strategy recognises the importance of taking a ‘place-based’ approach to culture. This means giving people a greater say in shaping the cultural life of their local communities. This could be through community choirs, book clubs and theatre groups, live music, or festivals and galas. The Strategy also identifies the role that a place-based approach to culture can play in developing communities.

The Scottish Parliament’s Culture Committee wants to know more about what is happening in our local communities. What works well? And what barriers are there to putting on or taking part in cultural activities?

Alcohol advertising and promotion

The Scotish Government are consulting on their planned approach to restricting Alcohol advertising and promotion in Scotland.

The proposed changes include provisions for sponsorship of events, which may impact those in the Culture sector.

The Scottish Government has adopted the internationally recognised Community Wealth Building (CWB) approach to economic development as a key practical means by which progress can be made towards realising our wellbeing economy vision outlined in the National Strategy for Economic Transformation.
